Tucker Downtown Alleys and Grid Framework Plan
Client: Tucker-Northlake Community Improvement District (CID)
Location: Tucker, Georgia
Program: Livable Centers Initiative (LCI)
Contribution: Principal-in-Charge, Lead Urban Designer, project strategist, and client lead. Directed the planning process, historical research, and overall project content.
Downtown Tucker's original street and alley network had gradually been erased or obscured over time, leaving behind an underutilized framework for future growth. This Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) study re-established that framework where appropriate and used it to identify new opportunities for walkability, redevelopment, and public life. Historical research, development analysis, pedestrian activity mapping, and mobility frameworks help prioritize future investments and guide redevelopment.
The plan focused especially on the potential of downtown alleys as hidden public spaces rather than simply service corridors. Four alley typologies, illustrated through three-dimensional hybrid renderings, demonstrated how overlooked spaces could become active pedestrian connections and memorable gathering places.
Project completed while at Lord Aeck Sargent.
