I've always enjoyed the process of design: understanding a place, exploring possibilities, and laying out the pieces until they come together in a way that simply feels right. Whether I'm working on a neighborhood, a development site, a home, or another design challenge, I find that process just as rewarding today as when I began my career.

A Career In Design

Over more than 35 years of practice, my career has spanned architecture, urban design, and community planning, with projects ranging from residential design and neighborhood planning to mixed-use development, downtown revitalization, and large-scale community planning.

Along the way, I've had the opportunity to help prepare Atlanta for the 1996 Olympic Games, co-found Urban Collage, and later co-lead the Urban Design & Planning studio at Lord Aeck Sargent for 13 years. Throughout my career, I’ve collaborated with municipalities, developers, housing authorities, nonprofit organizations, and private clients on projects of many types and scales. Creating Collage Design Studio has given me the opportunity to work more directly with clients and to enjoy projects of every size, shape and color.

Residential Design & Artwork

From time to time, I also take on selected single-family residential design projects. I enjoy working at a smaller scale, collaborating closely with homeowners, and solving the unique design puzzles that every home presents.

I'm also a painter, and painting continues to influence the way I think about composition, color, and design. A selection of my work can be found on my Fine Art website.

Lastly, I’m always up for a good dad joke…just ask my kids!
