Booker T. Washington Site - Redevelopment Master Plan

Client: Housing Authority of Columbus, Georgia

Location: Columbus, Georgia

Contribution: Principal-in-Charge, Project Manager, and Lead Urban Designer. Led the urban design vision and project delivery, developing the planning framework through early concept sketches, guiding community and stakeholder engagement, and directing the production of the master plan and illustrative site models.

This plan established a vision for transforming a former public housing site into a mixed-income neighborhood compatible with its historic surroundings. The plan preserved the historic block pattern, building orientation, and streetscape while introducing contemporary housing types that respected the character of the adjacent neighborhood without relying on historic mimicry. The master plan now serves as the framework for the Housing Authority's phased redevelopment of the site, with the first senior housing phase now completed.

Project completed while at Lord Aeck Sargent in collaboration with KB Advisory Group.
